The Oregon Institute of Technology is taking a closer look at having a tobacco-free campus.
The student health advisory committee held a forum Monday to discuss a possible smoking ban.
While smoking is currently prohibited in all buildings, a survey shows mixed reaction to expanding the ban to the entire campus.
Chris Frazier, the student body president says it's a close race. "
It's actually about fifty-fifty right now. We're still distributing the survey, we're trying to get a representative sample, which technically would be 250 surveys returned.
As of right now, we've only got 150. But so far, it's about fifty-fifty students that say 'no' versus students that say yes."
The recent opening of a center for health professions on the O-I-T campus has been a factor in the call for a tobacco ban.
About thirty students attended the smoke-free forum.
