(4/24/08) A world-renowned doctor visited the Rogue Valley today to discuss a very rare and deadly cancer that he says he can also give hope to people with an often-hopeless diagnosis.

Dr. Gary Hammer heads up the Adrenal Cancer Program at the University of Michigan's Comprehensive Cancer Center.

His facility sees half of the country's adrenal cancer patients alone.  It is one of the top research and treatment centers in the country, largely due to an endowment from former Michigan Football Coach Bo Schembechler, whose wife Millie died from Adrenal Cancer in 1992.

As proof of hope for the cancer victim  Dr. Hammer brought a patient with him that is currently cancer free.

Dr.. Hammer hopes to galvanize support and resources nationally in an effort to find new treatments and a cure for adrenal cancer.  For more information on the disease or how you can help, you can log on to www.mcancer.org.
