(5/19/08) An Emmy award-winning actress made a political stopover in Medford Monday afternoon. America Ferrera, the star of the "Ugly Betty" television series, visited la Clinica as part of Hillary Clinton's Latino outreach campaign.
The facility provides medical and dental services to diverse populations within the community.
Ferrera toured La Clinica, took photos, signed autographs and encouraged Oregonians to "vote for Hillary."
Ferrera was born in Los Angeles to Honduran parents, and she says it's Clinton's positions on immigration and universal health care that make her the best person for the job.
"She's been the supporter of the most disenfranchised people in this country since she was in her 20s. For me to be able to stand up for a candidate who has supported the community I was raised in is such a privilege."
The 24 year-old actress says she hopes she can help influence the nation's 18 million Hispanic voters.
